The sobering statistics from the most recent Therapist Burnout Survey provide a clear picture of the difficulties that mental health professionals are currently facing. Significantly, 60% of therapists say that one of the main causes of their burnout is the strain of trying to maintain a work-life balance. Furthermore, administrative work is cited as a major burden by 55% of therapists, particularly for those who handle insurance claims, who are twice as likely to experience stress. In addition, 54% of therapists blame compassion fatigue for their burnout, and 44% express concern about their low pay. These results demonstrate how urgently systemic adjustments are needed to enable therapists to carry out their essential tasks.
